An ongoing project at the present time is a sculpture of the Ballerina Uliana Lopatkina. Through visits to St petersburgs Mariinsky theatre it has been possible to model the wax figure from Uliana at rehearsel. It is anticipated that the piece will be completed this Spring. Uliana has a deeply spiritual affinity with dance.
She has been called ‘Russias Soul’. Her style is classically pure. She is the greatest living Ballerina, and has made the role of Odette/Odile her own.
Rob, I’m sure she would be delighted if you had this completed in time for her birthday October 23rd. It does look very moving and full of life – your stance of her above. I look forward to seeing the finished bronze. Fergus
Your work is absolutely brilliant. Met you, and your bronze horse, at Winchester on 19 June. Undoubtedly you are the most talented artist at this Art & Design event – your work is spellbinding.
Hello from Edinburgh I own your Giselle a gift from my husband some years ago I was looking at it today and because I find it so beautiful I decided to buy another of your ballet creations Looking online I could not believe you had used Lopatkina as a subject I am a huge ballet fan and I have visited the Mariinsky a few times .Lopatkina has been my favourite dancer for such a long time and I met her once at the Astoria Hotel You have captured the movement in the arms of Giselle perfectly and I hope you can tell me where I can find Lopatkina to join her. Regards Maureen Findlay
Hello Maureen
The Loptkina figure I boxed up in st Petersburg .i need to go back to finish .its somewhat larger than your Giselle. Thanks for your interest. I have a spare dancer tying slipper and Phyrigia from Spartacus .this latter also much larger. I’ve little in Scotland. Did you buy giselle at glen rosses gallery 41 or jill gerbers compass gallery in Glasgow?
